Body control Pilates Instructor, remedial & Sports Massage Therapist
Helen made the decision to leave the corporate world after a successful career in Training and Development. Keen to do something completely different but utilise her skills, Helen initially qualified in remedial and sports massage in 2004. Since then she has learnt many new and valuable techniques with the aim of helping the body restore itself back to its normal function after injury or chronic build up of tension. She now has a successful practice treating individuals and teaching groups.
Helen appreciates that one size doesn’t fit all and uses the skills she learnt in her corporate roles to really understand the needs of the client. With this information, she ensures that treatments are tailored to suit the needs of the individual and are regularly reviewed as conditions improve. Her testimonials refer to her ability to identify the correct course of treatment and her persistence and ability when treating chronic problems.
In 2005, Helen wanted to find a form of exercise that would compliment the massage and having had personally seen the benefits of Pilates, she trained and qualified as an instructor through the Body Control Association.
She is currently training to use the "Reformer", a piece of Pilates studio equipment, to add a new aspect to the one to one sessions that are offered for those preferring a more personal and tailored approach to their fitness.
Helen works in a Natural Health Centre with Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and other natural health professionals, and although they work for themselves, they work together as a team ensuring that the individual gets the right treatment for their needs.
